ev.energy and Enode are building an interoperable ecosystem to unlock flexibility for every EV driver

We’re partnering with ev.energy, a global leader in smart EV charging services, to unlock the full potential of energy flexibility for EVs and other DERs – making smart energy management available to all homes and drivers, regardless of their specific hardware or make. Our partnership underscores a shared vision: to build an open and scalable flexible energy landscape through a pragmatic and technology agnostic approach.
ev.energy enables utilities and energy retailers to launch branded EV charging propositions in weeks. With an open platform approach, support for solar and batteries, and a top-rated user experience, they’ve become a trusted partner to over 55 utilities worldwide.
Through Enode, ev.energy can connect to a wide ecosystem of energy devices beyond EVs – from EV chargers to solar inverters and batteries – unlocking use cases like coordinated smart charging, solar optimization, and behind-the-meter flexibility. Enode’s robust and secure API strengthens ev.energy’s ability to deliver reliable, accurate, and secure managed charging program access for all EV drivers.
Integration partners enable interoperability and scale
Integrating and communicating with EVs, chargers, and solar inverters is a complex challenge. The number of brands and models is large and growing, with each offering widely different capabilities.
Energy companies need a connectivity partner that can handle this complexity, enabling equitable access to smart charging for all their customers, regardless of their device.
Achieving this means shifting towards an open and interoperable energy system where device data is owned by users and accessible for innovation. ev.energy and Enode are accelerating this transition by simplifying integration, increasing revenue opportunities, and contributing to a more resilient, sustainable grid.
Expanding access through trusted, OEM-supported integration
Enode's secure, API-based integrations are tailored for every OEM and leverage officially supported APIs when possible. Across all integrations, Enode raises the standard for user consent, GDPR compliance, and industry-grade security.
That’s a win for users, utilities, and OEMs alike: it enables interoperability today, while building the foundation for more open, standardized APIs in the future.
Smarter coordination, starting with solar
ev.energy already enables customers to charge their EVs using solar power—helping them reduce energy bills and emissions. With Enode, they can now take this further. By combining real-time data from rooftop solar, home batteries, and EVs, ev.energy can offer smarter solar charging that maximizes self-consumption, lowers costs, and boosts system-wide flexibility.
Instead of simply timing charging based on solar production, smart solar charging dynamically adjusts the vehicle’s charge rate to match available solar surplus. This ensures that vehicles are powered using excess solar that would otherwise be exported to the grid. In California, this approach has already helped ev.energy shift up to 45% of daytime charging to periods of peak solar generation.
Scaling flexibility, together
This partnership is more than a technical integration – it’s a shared commitment to making flexibility accessible, scalable, and truly impactful. The path to full standardization will take time, but our partnership shows a pragmatic approach, creating real value for utilities and their customers now, using the best tools available today.
"Our collaboration with Enode is a pivotal step in expanding access to flexible energy across the entire ecosystem. We're incredibly excited about their robust API platform, which aligns perfectly with our vision for an open, connected, and truly equitable energy future. Together, we're making it easier for utilities and energy providers to harness the power of not just EVs, but a full spectrum of connected devices, driving widespread adoption of smart energy management and accelerating our transition to a cleaner grid."
