Peblar x Enode: Expanding EV charger choices for energy retailers

Peblar Enode

Across the Netherlands, electric vehicle (EV) adoption is moving from early growth to mainstream. For energy retailers, that shift is changing what customers expect from their energy provider.

What began as EV-specific tariffs is evolving into offers that include a home charger, app-based smart charging, and flexibility programs designed to optimize renewable energy use and support grid stability. Now, EV charging optimization is becoming part of the core energy proposition, not an add-on.

As expectations rise, EV charging needs to be reliable, easy to manage in the same app customers already use for their energy management, and delivered as part of a cohesive customer experience.

That is why we are partnering with Peblar.

Peblar is one of the fastest growing EV charger brands in the Benelux region, with more than 125 000 chargers installed and partnerships across eight countries. Developed, tested, and produced at its vertically integrated facility in Eindhoven, Peblar has built a strong reputation for reliability, ease of installation, and hardware quality, with a reported failure rate below 0.05 percent.

Through this partnership, Peblar chargers can be integrated directly into energy apps and flexibility programs powered by Enode.

Built for a reliable customer experience

More energy retailers are moving beyond selling energy as a standalone product and into distributing their own energy hardware, starting with home EV chargers.

Owning part of the physical asset in the home strengthens the customer relationship and creates a direct path to deliver smart charging and flexibility as an integrated part of the energy offering. For EV drivers, that means a single setup and charging that can be managed in the same app they already use for their energy, automatically aligning with price signals and renewable availability.

Peblar supports this shift through white label distribution, enabling retailers to bring chargers to market under their own brand while retaining control of the customer experience.

To support that philosophy, Peblar worked closely with Enode to build a dedicated third party API. This allows end customers to securely connect their Peblar charger to the energy app of their choice, including apps powered by Enode, without losing functionality or control.

The result is a cleaner integration and fewer workarounds, creating a solid foundation for smart charging and flexibility at scale.

Hardware designed for real-world operations

For smart charging to scale, hardware reliability matters. The chargers are designed for quick installation, with a low field failure rate of 0.05 percent or below.

“When we decided to open our chargers through a dedicated third party API, it was critical to work with a partner that understands the operational realities of energy retailers,” says Dominic Pfaff, Lead Sales Engineer at Peblar. “Enode shares our focus on reliability and scalability.”

For retailers, this reduces operational friction and support volume. For customers, it means fewer installation issues, fewer outages, and charging that behaves predictably over time.

When chargers are reliable and deeply integrated into the energy app, flexibility becomes easier to forecast, dispatch, and manage across portfolios. Smart charging shifts from being a feature to becoming a dependable part of the core energy proposition.

A foundation for growth

With a dedicated third party API in place, Peblar and Enode are working together to integrate Peblar chargers into Enode-powered EV and flexibility propositions.

This partnership establishes a scalable foundation for retailers that want to combine branded hardware with app-based smart charging and portfolio-level flexibility, while giving EV drivers a simple and reliable charging experience from day one.

As Peblar continues to expand beyond its current markets in Benelux, France, DACH and the UK, the integration ensures retailers can activate Peblar chargers within their existing Enode-powered infrastructure, without building custom connections or compromising on customer experience.
