GivEnergy and Enode partner to unlock energy freedom for UK consumers

GivEnergy is the UK’s leading energy storage brand – and they’re on a mission to empower a future free from fossil fuels. Their range of energy devices and software solutions enable consumers to make informed choices about their energy usage, helping them store renewable energy, cut bills, and reduce emissions.
Now, GivEnergy has partnered with Enode to create an energy future where interoperability takes center stage. Together, we’re making it easy for UK consumers to connect their GivEnergy batteries and solar inverters to their preferred energy management apps, unlock their full value, and accelerate the energy transition.
Empowering consumers with energy management solutions
As consumers become more informed about the climate crisis, and their role in creating a zero carbon electricity system, interest in smart energy solutions is spiking. In recent years, online searches for assets like “solar panels” and “heat pump” have tripled across the UK.
GivEnergy’s residential batteries and solar inverters put power in the hands of consumers. They make it possible to store energy from renewable sources or off-peak grid hours, and use it to power homes when prices are higher. Each installation helps consumers save up to 85% on their electricity bills, as well as providing vital backup power in case of emergency.
Even better, these assets are perfectly-equipped to participate in consumer flexibility programs, and to take advantage of the dynamic energy tariffs gaining traction in the UK. But to do so, they first need to connect to energy retailer apps. Here’s where Enode comes in.
Solving the interoperability challenge
With Enode’s API, GivEnergy’s residential batteries and solar inverters can be seamlessly integrated into a wide range of energy retailer apps.
Interoperability challenges across the energy ecosystem mean that without Enode, each energy retailer wanting to control GivEnergy batteries would need to separately integrate with GivEnergy’s market-leading API. This could result in hundreds of separate integrations being built to perform similar actions.
Enode solves this problem, taking pressure off overstretched developer teams and helping GivEnergy scale to a wider audience. Now, GivEnergy only needs to build one integration with the Enode API. Enode does the rest, instantly connecting GivEnergy to 100+ energy apps. This significantly reduces the operational burden for GivEnergy’s team, slashes the associated costs of integration for retailers, and frees up valuable developer time on both sides. Enode’s developer-first approach ensures seamless communication and support throughout, allowing development teams to focus on what they do best: driving the future of energy technology.
Not only does this make it more viable for GivEnergy to integrate their hardware with the full range of HEMS apps, it also increases the value consumers can realize from their energy devices. Rather than being limited to one app, they can connect their devices to the app that offers them the best experience, most control and biggest cost savings.
Making smart energy management more accessible
The partnership makes smarter energy choices more accessible than ever before. Consumers can connect their GivEnergy devices to energy retailer apps in just a few taps, and take advantage of opportunities to match energy prices with charging schedules, participate in flex programs, and contribute to a more sustainable energy system.
“The more choice and control consumers have, the greater their impact on the energy transition,” said Thorvald Thorsnes, CRO at Enode. “We’re delighted to be working with GivEnergy to scale consumer device connectivity, without adding friction for developer teams. By breaking down barriers to interoperability and empowering both consumers and developers, we’re laying the foundation for a cleaner, smarter, and more sustainable energy future.”
Rob Taylor, CIO at GivEnergy said: “At GivEnergy we believe in empowering our customers and part of this empowerment means enabling choice. Giving partners the option to control GivEnergy batteries via Enode opens up choices for our customers and gives partners the option of controlling multiple smart assets via a single integration point if they so wish. We think this is good for the market and for our customers.”
