Behind the Circuit: Meet Mikaela Sievertz, Head of Marketing

At Enode, marketing isn’t just about telling stories. It’s about shaping how an entire industry sees itself.

Mikaela Sievertz leads Marketing at Enode, where she’s helping define a new category and build a brand that stands out in climate tech. From Klarna to Tink to Enode, her journey spans two unicorns, multiple hypergrowth phases, and a career shaped by curiosity, clarity, and impact.

In this edition of Behind the Circuit, we talk to Mikaela about her path to Enode, how her team operates, and what it takes to do great marketing in a company that’s moving fast and building something new.

From fintech to climate tech

Mikaela spent nearly a decade at Klarna during its rapid expansion across Europe and the US, a period that gave her a front-row seat to what it means to scale a company. Over the years, she held a range of leadership roles spanning merchant support, executive advisory, and marketing. “It taught me how to navigate high growth, build for scale, and stay close to the customer.”

After Klarna, she joined Tink at a pivotal moment: the transition from a B2C app to a B2B platform. There, she led the rebranding effort and helped define the company’s positioning during a period of rapid growth. Tink was later acquired by Visa. “I managed a team of creatives, built scalable processes, and helped position Tink as a trusted enterprise partner in fintech.”

It was around this time that energy started to feel like the next big challenge. “The mission was a big part of it,” Mikaela says. “Energy is the challenge of our generation. I wanted to be somewhere that my skills could make a difference.” But what really drew her in was the people. “From my first conversation with our CRO, Thorvald, I knew Enode was building something special. The mission was clear, the people were brilliant, and I knew this was a journey I didn’t want to miss.”

A small team with wide impact

Today, Mikaela leads a small but high-performing team responsible for everything from brand and thought leadership to events, employer marketing and customer communications. That scope means working across commercial, product, operations and leadership functions every week.

“We translate complex ideas into stories people can connect with. We also help shape how the industry sees Enode: how we work, what we stand for, and what kind of impact our customers can create using our platform.”

The team has launched thought leadership initiatives that clarify Enode’s position on key topics, including the EU Data Act, interoperability, and Open Energy. They’ve elevated the company’s voice in flexibility through a whitepaper, a practical guide, and an exclusive senior-level roundtable. They’ve supported industry education with a benchmarking report for solar and storage manufacturers, and reimagined Enode’s event presence with a modular, sustainable booth.

Beyond these larger efforts, the team drives partner announcements, case studies, and a steady stream of content and communication — helping Enode engage the market, share its priorities, and contribute to a broader conversation around connected energy.

“It’s a constant prioritisation exercise,” Mikaela says. “In a startup, you’ll always have more ambition than resources. The key is choosing the right projects, being rigorous with time, and focusing on impact.”

How marketing works at Enode

That bias toward action, and the willingness to figure things out, is what Mikaela believes sets great marketers apart at Enode.

Enode’s customers work on everything from EV charging and solar to battery storage and grid services. That makes storytelling both challenging and rewarding.

“We’re not repeating a formula. The industry is still being shaped, which means we get to influence how the story is told.” Mikaela sees that as one of the most exciting parts of the role, and also one of the hardest. “You need to be willing to learn fast, think across domains and stretch beyond what you’ve done before. If you like variety and complexity, it’s a very energising place to be.”

It’s also a team that encourages learning and growth. “You don’t need to be an expert in energy or software to join us. You need to be someone who wants to learn fast, collaborate closely, and challenge yourself. If you do that, you’ll feel right at home.”

Life, structure and balance

Mikaela lives in Stockholm with her husband, their 3.5-year-old daughter, and their dog. She’s passionate about food, especially planning travel around great meals, and finds calm in long walks outdoors. She’s also the kind of person who loves picking up new hobbies, from piano to knitting to coloring books. Most don’t stick, but learning something new is part of what keeps her energized.

The remote-first setup at Enode allows her to structure work around deep focus and family life. “The flexibility is invaluable, but it also requires a different mindset. You have to be proactive, communicative and comfortable with async collaboration.” Offsites twice a year help the team stay connected and aligned. “It’s a balance that works. I feel both trusted and part of something bigger.”

What’s next for marketing

Working at a startup isn’t always comfortable, and that’s a good thing.

“The scope is big, and you’re constantly doing things you’ve never done before. But if you lean into it, it becomes an accelerator for growth,” Mikaela says. “Embrace the ownership you’re given. It’s the fastest way to learn.”

Enode is currently hiring an Enterprise Marketing Lead to join Mikaela’s team. If you’re excited to help shape the story of a climate tech company building for impact and scale, get in touch.

“We’re defining a new category in climate tech, and this role is central to how we tell that story. It’s a rare opportunity to turn strategy into scalable programs, shape a brand from the ground up, and join a company where marketing has a real seat at the table.”
