Behind the Circuit: Meet Jessie Pease, Engineering Manager

At Enode, our mission is to accelerate the energy transition by connecting the world’s devices. But behind every API call and integration is something even more important – the people powering our progress.
Behind the Circuit is our new series highlighting the individuals shaping Enode’s technology, culture, and impact. First up: Jessie Pease, a Stockholm- based Engineering Manager on our Home Energy team 👋
From health tech to climate tech: a mission-first mindset
For Jessie, the journey to Enode was driven by purpose.
“I’m very motivated by mission-driven work,” she shares. “A few years ago I made the leap from health tech to climate tech because I felt the climate crisis needed more energy and attention. I wanted to work somewhere where software is core to solving the problem – not just an enabler.”
Jessie found that at Enode. The combination of a big mission, an impactful product, and passionate people made the decision easy.
“After my first conversations with the team, I knew this was the place for me.”
A day in the life on the Home Energy team
Jessie leads Enode’s Home Energy team, which focuses on making homes smarter and more flexible.
So, how would Jessie describe her team?
“Our team is a diverse group of engineers who love to solve complex problems. The product space we work in is highly ambiguous, and our goal is to build products that help our customers and end users deeply understand and control energy usage in their home. As a group, we aim to be the team everyone wants to be a part of because of our fun team dynamics, high quality bar, and exciting product releases!”
The team balances expanding connectivity with developing features that help customers and users get more from connected devices.
“We build the connection layer for home energy devices – from solar systems to HVAC. This helps energy retailers and their customers understand how energy flows both behind and in front of the meter.”
Despite working remotely across multiple countries, Jessie’s team stays tightly connected. They use a number of tools that make it easy to collaborate both synchronously and asynchronously.
“We kick off our mornings with weekly planning sessions or a coffee chat. Then we use Slack, Notion, Miro and Linear to plan and communicate through the week, focusing on one goal at a time in weekly cycles. That keeps us aligned and energized.”
There are opportunities to get together and build relationships in person, too.
“One of my favorite moments was our Home Energy team offsite in Copenhagen this March. Even though it was my first time meeting some teammates in person, it instantly felt easy and fun. That time getting to know each other really helps when times get tough – we’re able to laugh through even the most difficult challenges.”
Leading with empathy and ownership
Jessie’s journey into Engineering Management started early.
“From the beginning, I naturally gravitated toward leadership and mentorship roles. I love the mix of technical depth and the chance to support engineers growing in their careers and skills.”
Her leadership style reflects the best of what makes engineering at Enode special - an environment of trust and empathy that allows ideas and ownership to flourish.
“My management style is rooted in the belief that great managers don’t need to have all the answers. My job is to create an environment where others feel safe and empowered to bring their ideas forward.” She shares. “I lead with empathy because that’s who I am at my core. I care deeply about how people feel, not just how they perform.”
Whilst managers may not have all the answers - Jessie considers it her mission to cut through the ambiguity and ensure that her team has the structure in order to take action.
“I believe clarity is one of the most powerful gifts a leader can offer. When things feel messy or stuck, I bring structure that helps the team move forward. I don’t shy away from conflict; I see it as a way to build trust as long as we approach it with honesty and respect.”
It’s a style that doesn’t just empower engineers to grow – it expects them to. That mindset is deeply embedded in Enode’s engineering culture, where ownership isn’t a buzzword but a lived reality.
For engineers looking to do meaningful work, take real responsibility, and thrive in a team that balances autonomy with support, Enode offers a rare kind of environment.
Flexibility, on and off the grid
Remote work at Enode gives Jessie the freedom to thrive professionally and personally.
After moving back to Stockholm with her partner and dog, she’s embraced local life – joining tennis classes, knitting groups, and co-working weekly with the Stockholm Enode crew.
“This setup lets me build a life outside of work while staying connected with the team. It’s the best of both worlds.”
Her advice to others new to remote work? Prioritize communication and create a comfortable setup.
“Remote-first works when everyone invests in building connections intentionally.”
What’s next for Jessie and the Home Energy team
With a big mission ahead, Jessie is focused on scaling the Home Energy platform and helping her team tackle new challenges. It’s a unique – and exciting – opportunity for ambitious engineers:
“If you’re an engineer who wants to make a real impact on the climate crisis, Enode is the place to do it. We’re building the software infrastructure that powers a flexible, zero-carbon energy system – and that means solving complex, high-impact problems every day.”
“I love that we work in small, focused teams, ship meaningful features quickly, and constantly push the boundaries of what’s possible. You’ll be surrounded by people who care deeply about their craft, lift each other up, and take ownership of making things better – not just for our customers, but for each other too.”
Her advice for new Enoders? Dive in early.
“Spend time in the Sandbox and explore the API. The more you understand how the product works and how customers use it, the easier it becomes to contribute ideas and make an impact.”
Stay tuned
